DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Reports to: Executive Director
Program/Location: TPCS Administration
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Officer contributes significantly to the growth and sustainability of Turning Point Community Services’ programming. The Development Officer is responsible for developing and executing fundraising initiatives and programs to help achieve our organization’s overall mission and vision. The Development Officer assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives.
This position involves researching, prospecting, cultivating, and managing relationships with donors. The Development Officer ensures that the organization’s development efforts are successful and that donor support is maximized.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategic plans to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate all fundraising activities, including fundraising galas, social media awareness campaigns, and direct mail campaigns.
- Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors. Research prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Prepare and submit proposals to solicit donations.
- Manage and track donor records, contact information, and history.
- Organize and maintain development materials, such as brochures and presentations.
- Work with the marketing department to develop and enhance promotion and recognition tools.
- Participate in donor meetings, presentations, and events.
- Develop and implement recognition and stewardship strategies.
- Prepare fundraising reports, budgets, and other documents.
- Stay informed of fundraising trends, techniques, and technology.
- Recruit, organize, train, and oversee volunteers in the development department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or comparable field required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in fundraising and development in a nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated success in managing and meeting fundraising goals.
- Proven success with donor prospecting, relations, stewardship, and recognition.
- Experience managing complex projects with specific targets.
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES
- Solid understanding of basic fundraising principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications (email, calendar, drive, docs, etc.). Willingness and ability to learn additional databases.
- Possess superb verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; demonstrate sound judgment and discretion.
- Proven ability to be flexible and to work in a fast-changing environment.
COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this position is a minimum of $60,000 to a maximum of $70,000 per annum.
