Housing Support Specialist
Reports to: Director of Housing and Development

POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Support Specialist (HSS) provides direct services to households enrolled in the Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) and Domestic Violence-Rapid Re-housing program. This position works closely with consumers and support agencies to foster housing stability, connect them with supportive services, and ensure compliance with HUD, CoC, and VAWA program requirements. The HSS is responsible for intake, ongoing case management, file management, safety planning (DV survivors), and individualized service planning, helping consumers transition from homelessness to permanent housing while promoting long-term stability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct intake assessments, determine eligibility, and develop individualized housing stability plans.
- Conduct safety-focused housing plans that prioritize survivor choice and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with DV service providers, shelters, and advocates to coordinate referrals.
- Ensure consumer information is protected.
- Provide ongoing case management and connect consumers with community resources and wraparound services.
- Assist consumers with lease compliance, landlord relationships, and eviction prevention.
- Conduct rent reasonableness determinations and calculate consumer rent contributions per HUD guidelines.
- Process rental assistance payments, utility assistance, and other eligible supports.
- Maintain case records and ensure compliance with HUD and CoC requirements.
- Collaborate with Housing Navigators, landlords, and partners to support housing stability.
- Advocate for participants and uphold Housing First and trauma-informed care principles.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in case management, homelessness services, or supportive housing.
- Knowledge of HUD/CoC RRH guidelines, tenant rights, and fair housing laws preferred.
- Domestic Violence Advocate Certification, or commitment to complete after hire.
- Trauma-Informed Care Certification/Training, or commitment to complete after hire.
- Familiarity with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
- Experience with rent calculation and financial assistance processes.
- Proficiency in HMIS or case management databases preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Demonstrated experience working with and sensitivity to individuals from varying sociodemographic backgrounds, including the LGBTQIA+ community, HIV- affected, domestic violence, seniors, and individuals with substance use.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications (email, calendar, drive, docs, etc.).
- Possess superb oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain client records, including case notes, treatment plans, collateral contacts, etc.

COMPENSATION
Expected annual base salary/hourly range: $27/hr.
