Business Development Intern/Extern

Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Program/Location: TPCS Administrative Office (Springfield/Short Hills Location)

POSITION SUMMARY

Turning Point Community Services (TPCS) is looking for a Business Development Intern/Extern. The Development Intern/Extern assists with executing fundraising initiatives and programs that help achieve our organization’s overall mission and vision.

Benefits to interning at our organization include: increased knowledge of the nonprofit field; developing contacts with businesses, individuals, and fellow nonprofit organizations in the community; and gaining experience in writing and new media methods. This position will help students hone business, communication, collaboration, and creative skills that are applicable to any job in one’s career path.

SCHEDULE + COMPENSATION

  • August 2023 through May 2024
  • 15-20 hours per week
  • Hybrid work schedule. Willing to be in the office Tuesday – Thursday, min. three hours per day.
  • Along with credit eligibility, the candidate will receive a stipend in December and May.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researching and compiling prospective program underwriters, sponsors, and donor lists.
  • Excel spreadsheet management.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data organization and entry.
  • Helping with website, campaign and newsletter ideas, content and formatting.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all fundraising activities.
  • Stay informed of fundraising trends, techniques, and technology.
  • Supporting and helping to write proposals to grow TPCS’s impact and offer resources to women in need.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS 

  • College student pursuing a major in Business, Marketing, Communications, or comparable field required.
  • 3.0 + GPA

ESSENTIAL ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications (email, calendar, drive, docs, etc.). Willingness and ability to learn additional databases.
  • Possess superb verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong human relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to carry oneself in a professional manner.
