August Charity Care Fund Campaign
A Small Ask From a Team That Gives Everything
You already know what Turning Point Community Services does. You have seen our mission up close, and we are grateful for that. So we will not spend too much time on the introduction. Instead, we want to share something that is close to our hearts right now, and make a simple ask.
This August, we are running a community giving campaign to support our Charity Care Fund.
Most of the families we serve come to us through referrals from county agencies across Essex, Morris, Hudson, and Bergen County. They arrive with their children, often with very little, and we get to work. We provide:
- emergency shelter
- clinical and supportive services
- individualized case management
- housing assistance
- life skills workshops
At any given time, we are home to up to 24 families, more than 70 individuals, with stays ranging from one week to six months and beyond.
But here is something we do not always talk about publicly—sometimes a family’s funding runs out before they are truly ready to move on. Maybe the housing placement fell through. Maybe they need just a few more weeks to get their feet under them. When that happens, we do not show them the door. A couple of years ago, we created our Charity Care Fund that allows us to extend a family’s stay so they can take their next step with confidence, not fear.
This fund only works because of community support. And that is where you come in.
We are asking everyone in our TPCS family this month to consider making a donation, any amount of twenty-five dollars or more. It all goes directly toward keeping families safe, stable, and supported for as long as they need us.
Between our workshops, our wraparound services, and the special moments we create together—like our recent Juneteenth barbecue and the Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s celebrations we have coming up—we work hard to make sure our families feel seen, cared for, and hopeful about what comes next.
